How Music is organised at Moira?
We teach our children about Music through a weekly music lesson. We use the Leicestershire Music Service scheme of work as this gives a clear progression in terms of musical skills and knowledge, right across our school.
How do we make sure that all children have musical knowledge?
Our curriculum builds carefully upon children's prior understanding and ensures that there are opportunities for children to use their previous learning as they move through our school.
How do we teach children about a wide range of musical genres?
We try to introduce children to a wide range of musical genres across their time at Moira. Our curriculum ensures that children are introduced to a clearly planned sequence of musical genres and enables them to listen to musical styles from around the world. We also listen to different styles of music during assembly.
Music is a positive aid for wellbeing so we try to use relaxing music to support our learning whenever possible.
How do we assess in Music?
We use teacher assessment to gauge children's attainment in Music.
How can parents help their children to learn more about Music?
There are lots of resources that can help parents to investigate Music
