Our Curriculum Intent

At Moira Primary School, our intent is for all children to develop strength and confidence within their learning.

We want all of our children to leave Moira having been excited by the experiences they have had and keen to embark on the next step in their learning journey.

We believe that our children need to be curious about the world around them in order to enable them to live as a valuable member of the Britain of the future.

We intend for all children to develop a physically and mentally healthy attitude towards their learning and have the skills to navigate their relationships as they grow.

In 2021, we made the decision to move to Curriculum Maestro for our whole school planning. We are currently in the first term of the new curriculum so will be making improvements and adjustments as the year progresses.

Here is a brief overview of the rationale behind the curriculum.

Our Interim Curriculum 21/22

In the academic year 21/22, we are moving from a class based topic based approach to a clearly structured and carefully whole school progression.

We will still be using a two year rolling programme for topics, as we firmly believe that this offers our children the best opportunity to delve into their learning, as well as capturing the skills of teaching across the academic 'phase' (EYFS, KS1, Lower KS2 and Upper KS2)
